The Sunday Reset - Inspired by Lemon Myrtle [Backhousia citriodora]

The Sunday Reset - Inspired by Lemon Myrtle [Backhousia citriodora]

A guide to embracing the new week

Fresh. Evergreen. Healing.

The oil in the ‘queen of the lemon herbs’ has higher citral content than lemons, limes and even lemongrass. Its tangy aroma is a pure pick-me-up for the senses, helping to push away fatigue, and lift the mood.

Lemon Myrtle’s commanding antiseptic strength also makes it the deep-healing diva of our kitchen range.

A ritual reset

Dishwater emptied. Cupboards prepped with clean crockery, pots and glassware. Surfaces and worktops cleared and wiped. The scent of Lemon Myrtle (and Mandarin) from Koala Eco’s Multipurpose Cleaner in the air. The kitchen’s ready for another busy week …

Even if your outdoor space is limited, you can grow Backhousia citriodora in a pot. It’s a full-sun to part-shade tolerant plant. Leaves can be harvested all year round, for cooking and for delicious infusions of tea.

A nature reset

Dedicate some time to being outdoors. An early morning swim or surf, if you’re near the ocean. If you’re in a city, head for a park or riverside. Make your balcony or windowsill a space for greenery, your table a place for flowers or foliage gathered on a lazy Sunday afternoon walk.

Thought for the week

“Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.”
Gary Snyder (American poet/environmentalist)
