Allergic to pollen and synthetic fragrance, not to spring!

Allergic to pollen and synthetic fragrance, not to spring!

One of the things just a little less ideal about spring is that, for many of us, it’s allergy season. The sap is rising, the tree pollen is flying, and quite frankly, it can be a pretty miserable time for sufferers. So here are a few tips we want to share, in the hope they can help you stay a bit more comfortable:

  1. During high pollen count times, stay indoors. Pollen counts are typically highest in the morning and early evening, and worse on windy days.
  2. There are apps designed specifically to help you monitor pollen counts in your area so you can plan your outdoor activities accordingly.
  3. Consider using high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters in your home to help remove pollen and other allergens from the air.
  4. Pollen can cling to bedding, so washing your sheets and pillowcases regularly can help reduce your exposure to allergens while you sleep.
  5. Pollen can also stick to your clothes and hair, so it's a good idea to shower and change into clean clothes after spending time outdoors.
  6. Wearing sunglasses and a hat can help protect your eyes and face from pollen when you're outside.
  7. Avoid drying clothes outside: pollen can stick to clothes as they dry outside, so it's best to use a clothes dryer or hang clothes indoors during allergy season.
  8. Avoid synthetic fragrance when you clean. So many companies talk up their cleaners’ so-called natural aromas, but very few truly are Koala Eco products genuinely smell only of the essential oils with which they’re made, so you can safely clean your house with our non-allergenic products.
